Rev. Matthew Clark
Rev. Matthew Clark grew up attending Our Savior Lutheran in Fenton, Missouri. He graduated from Lutheran High School South in 1998. He then entered the Pre-Seminary program at Concordia University in Nebraska. Following graduation from Concordia Seminary in 2007, Pastor Clark was called to serve as associate pastor at Immanuel Lutheran in Waterloo, Illinois.
Pastor Clark has served as pastor at Ascension Lutheran Church since October of 2013. In addition to serving at Ascension Lutheran Church and Word of Life Lutheran School, pastor is also involved with KFUO radio where he is co-host of “Wrestling with the Basics” which airs on Saturday mornings at 9:05 a.m., and is also a guest on “Thy Strong Word” at 11 a.m. the first Monday of each month. Pastor occasionally writes for Creative Worship for the Lutheran Parish, and is Co-Director of Worship for the 2016 LCMS National Youth Gathering. When not eating Ted Drewes frozen Custard, pastor enjoys
cycling, gardening, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals.
Pastor’s wife, Lisa, serves at Concordia Publishing House as Editor of Curriculum Resources and writer. Pastor and Lisa have been blessed with two children, Noah and Anna. They both love attending Word of Life Lutheran School.
Sherry was born at Scott AFB, IL and has lived in the St. Louis area all her life. She attended Hope Lutheran and Gardenville grade school before attending Cleveland High School. She has been a member of Ascension Lutheran Church since 1977. Her 3 children all attended Word of Life Lutheran School and graduated from Lutheran High School South. She has 9 grandchildren, 7 girls and 2 boys. She loves to attend the Cardinals baseballs games, Muny and Fox. She has been employed by Ascension Lutheran Church since 1989 and became the Administrative Assistant in 2007. “I love to be of service to people and am truly blessed to be a part of the staff here at Ascension.”
Pam Fox was born in St. Clair, MO and has lived in the St. Louis area all her life. She is married to Jim and has two adult daughters, Jennifer and Melissa. The Fox family have been members at Ascension since 1988. Pam feels very blessed to not only belong to, but also be employed by Ascension.
Nepali Ministry Facilitator
Gagan grew up in Bhutan, together with thousands of other Nepali residents and was forced by the government to depart from Bhutan at the age of 14. He lived as a refuge at Camp Beldange 3 in Nepal for 22 years., where by the power of the Holy Spirit he developed a curiosity regarding Christianity and left Hinduism and was baptized on October 13, 2002. Upon being selected for re-settlement to the United States, he arrived in St. Louis on October 9, 2013 and immediately joined other members of his extended family at the Peace Center. He was instructed in the confirmation class and was confirmed at Ascension on January 12, 2014. Presently, Gagan serves on behalf of Ascension and CFNA as a missionary among the Nepali people, welcoming new arrivals, leading Bible study and leading Fellowship on Sunday mornings at the Peace Center.

Wanda Kuntz holds a Master of Music degree from Webster University. She grew up in Maplewood where her parents owned a music store. Wanda enjoys directing the Ascension worship team, teaching piano, and writing/recording original songs and piano arrangements.
Coordinator of Volunteers
Has been a member since 1942. Married to Arleen for 55 years and has 2 children, son, the late John Kassing and daughter, Karen Watz. Has served the congregation as president, Board of Elder chair, chairman of the Board of Trustees, stewardship committee and usher. Jerry is currently a member of the Ascension Senior Choir and the member ministries coordinator.
Barbara Hartung has been a member of Ascension for approximately 28 years. She married David Hartung in 1968 and they have 3 grown children, Jill, Beth and David Jr., who all attended Lutheran grade school and high school. They have 3 beautiful grandchildren. In 1969, Barbara graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing and retired in 2011 from St. Mary’s Hospital in Clayton. Ascension is very fortunate and blessed to have Barbara as our volunteer Parish Nurse.
Kathy Thies has been a member of Ascension since 1997. She has been married to Chris for 20 years and they have 2 children, Katlyne and Emily. Kathy has worked for Ascension as housekeeper since 2007 and has served on Parish Activities and VBS. She currently works with the Youth Ministry of Ascension.
