Title:               Communications Coordinator

Report to:      Pastor

Status:            Part-time (10 hours per week)

Date:               Spring 2021

Scope: 

In cooperation of the pastors and administrative assistant, this position will oversee Ascension’s communication through website, social media, and print material.

Specific duties:

  • Create a unified content strategy that is consistent with Ascension’s branding across all channels.
  • Work with different organizations within Ascension to assist groups in publicizing events.
  • Initiate communications strategy/calendar.
  • Update website on a regular basis so information is clear, accessible, and current.
  • Manage Ascension’s social media on its various platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
  • Cooperate with Word of Life Lutheran School to publicize school events as well as share church events with the school.
  • Upload and distribute content to various communication channels.
  • Coordinate special event coverage with photos/video.
  • Work in close cooperation with Ascension’s volunteer Communications Team.

Experience:

B.S./B.A. in Communication, Marketing, or equivalent experience is strongly preferred. Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Word, Facebook, Instagram, and WordPress is strongly preferred. (Familiarity and experience with Canva, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, and Final Cut Pro is preferred.)

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) doctrine and practice is strongly preferred.
  • A passion for Ascension’s ministry and mission statement, “Loved by Christ, Sharing Christ’s Love,” is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to come into church office as needed is preferred.
