Sunday School at Home

Keep growing in Christ—especially during COVID-19! Resources for Sunday School are available for families. If you would like a take-home packet of Sunday school materials for your home, please contact the church office. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to teach the faith to their kids! At this point, we plan for in-person Sunday School to resume at the end of August.

In-Person Worship Updates

Sign up for worship here:

Ascension’s Ministry Council recently approved of expanding seating in worship to every other pew (rather than every third pew). The decision was also made to increase the capacity in worship from 40 people to 60 people per service. This decision was made in an effort to both allow for the greatest number of people to attend in-person worship while still maintaining a safe environment. Wearing masks is still expected and appreciated at every worship service per local and CDC guidelines.

If you are uncomfortable attending weekend in-person worship, please contact the church office to schedule individual communion.

Please DO NOT attend in person if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or if you are experiencing symptoms. According to CDC guidelines, if you are over 65 or in a group that is at high risk for infection, you are encouraged to not attend in person. Worship will also be streamed online Sunday mornings at 8:15 AM and 11:00 AM.

Capital Campaign Updates

Ascension’s Capital Campaign “Sharing Christ’s Love” continues! Over the past several months, contributions to the Capital Campaign have funded various improvements to our church and our school facilities. A few of the recent improvements include:

  • The sanctuary windows on the south side have been cleaned, broken glass has been replaced, and plate glass protection has been installed.
  • The metal casements on all windows have been scraped, repaired, and painted.
  • Tuckpointing was done on the outside of the building.
  • Inside the building the plaster has been repaired and restored to prepare it for painting.
  • The baseboards have been removed in preparation for new baseboards.
  • In Word of Life, new hallway lighting has been installed, new fire doors were installed, new roller windows were installed in the gym kitchen, and a new ionization system was installed in the HVAC system to clean the circulated air.

Thank you for your continued support of this important care of our facilities for the sake of sharing Christ!

Donations can be made using a designated gift envelope or a plain envelope; be sure to clearly mark “Capital Campaign” on the envelope. The envelope can be placed in the offering basket or in the locked wooden box on the shelf in the narthex. There are yellow-bordered envelopes in the offering envelope boxes that can be used for Capital Campaign contributions. Thank you for your participation!
